about

Originally released as 192 KBPS MP3 files at the Rope Swing Cities netlabel in 2008, Sawdust Aromatics remains a notable release for both Brian and David. David's contributions see him sidestepping his 21MG Series recording style a bit, and playing with more texture than was typical for him at the time. The atmospherics David employed on Sawdust Aromatics would later return on 2009's Wind Blown Guitar album. Brian's pieces are extensions of his session recording for Attacknine, slowly but surely building his album Summer's Parting Ways, which is still unreleased. The track "Summer's Parting Ways" is itself an alternate version of another shorter piece named "Rural Sparks", which appears on the SPW album. Altogether, Sawdust Aromatics expressed the boys' desire to represent themselves as a cohesive unit even when not overdubbing onto each other's creations. Until now, this album has never been given a master-quality release.
